<p>On May 8, Justin and Belicia held Live Zoom Office Hours with course subject matter experts Afrika Afeni Mills and Val Brown. They answered questions from learners like: </p>
<ul>
<li>We've seen in the course readings that a lot of people have been trying to address the issue of equity in America for a long time. Why are people's attitudes not changing or changing at a snail's pace?</li>
<li>How can people who have formal less authority or power in a school, like paraprofessionals, use their voice to advocate for creating change around equity?</li>
<li>How do you rationalize to teachers that the "exceptional" students will most likely be put to the side while we work with our more "at risk/bubble" students? </li>
<li>How can educators flex their imagination about finding strengths for students whose strengths might lie outside what we typically measure and value?</li>
</ul>
<p>Learners were able to use the Zoom chat to introduce themselves, ask questions, and share book and media recommendations. You can view the <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1idKAcUSVEQnclu93JxMRV7lFAsOMDnIcHrXxFhZ2qCw/edit?usp=sharing" target="_blank">chat transcript here</a>. </p>
