<p>The <a href="http://www.ccscambridge.org/" target="_blank">Community Charter School of Cambridge</a> (CCSC) in Cambridge, Massachusetts began their Data-Driven Instruction Program (DDI) as an effort to measure student knowledge quickly and rigorously enough to help students improve. By increasing the frequency of formative and summative assessments, the DDI program allows teachers to check-in on student progress and develop re-teaches if needed (1:26). CCSC educators discuss how the program changed over time based on teacher feedback collected both formally and informally (2:51). They then talk about the teacher evaluation program which is based on pairing teachers with evaluation coaches who observe classroom activity and then debrief with teachers to help them to improve their practice (8:53).</p>
<p>As you watch the video, keep the following questions in mind. </p>

<li>Middle School Principal Becki Norris says: “[We] are finding ways to gather data on how students are doing … and shepherding teachers through the process of identifying areas of weakness, so that they can re-teach those areas to students” (1:54). <br /><strong>Q: </strong>What kind of student data does your school collect? How does your school use that data? What kinds of questions is your school asking?</li>
<li>CCSC’s teaching evaluation system is coaching-oriented (6:56). <br /><strong>Q: </strong>How does your school evaluate teachers? How and how often do teachers reflect on their practice?</li>
