Develop a more polished version of your graduate profile that is meant to be shared widely. Generate an action plan for how you will continue this process after the course.

Instructions

1. Leveraging the feedback you’ve received on your first draft, create a second draft of your graduate profile. This draft should be polished enough to share widely with others in your school or community who you hope will begin to reflect carefully on expectations for high school graduates. The format is up to you, but we urge you to think about how you can be creative in the way that your present your profile. For example, consider using layout and graphics, or making a short video. Also, keep in mind that the audience is a diverse set of stakeholders across the community.

2. Next, write 3 steps that you can take in the immediate future to continue the process of developing your graduate profile. Possible steps could include:

Building more support for creating a graduate profile for your school or district

Prepare a presentation about what you’ve learned in this course for a school/district leadership or school committee

Share graduate profiles that have been created by other schools and districts

Meet with people in leadership positions who could support and promote your efforts

Find 2 or 3 key people to be part of a graduate profile design team

Continuing to refine your graduate profile draft

Continue to research how and what your school currently communicates regarding priorities and expectations for graduates

Get feedback from more stakeholders

Starting the process of aligning your graduate profile with what your school is doing

Find out how grade-level or departmental goals and curriculum might map to the graduate profile

What are the most important growth areas for your school based on the new graduate profile? Which stakeholders would be most invested in that growth?

For the Deliverable:

Provide a brief introduction to your graduate profile and action plan, remembering that the audience is a diverse set of stakeholders across the community. This could be a text summary, a quick video (2 minutes or less), a poster, or something else entirely.

Include the polished second draft of your graduate profile that incorporates feedback. Make sure the definitions of the characteristics included are clear.

Include your action plan.

Include at least one important lesson you learned from drafting a graduate profile.

Peer Feedback

Provide feedback to your peers and consider the following:

Are the definitions or explanations of the graduate profile characteristics clear? Is anything confusing? Would you define or explain the characteristics in a different way?

Consider the way the draft is presented (formatting, colors, images, etc.) What worked well? Is there anything that you think could use improvement?

Consider the steps of the participant's action plan: Have you taken any of these steps before? Do you have any advice for the participant based on your experiences?
