As you're conducting your peer reviews this week and reflecting on what you've learned about how to conduct effective interviews, we wanted to create an opportunity to inspire each other with examples of excellent interviewing from our different local contexts. We'll start by sharing an example of someone who has developed a reputation as an excellent interviewer:

Terry Gross, host and co-executive producer of Fresh Air, an interview-based radio show. She shares some excellent advice from her many years of interviewing in, How to Talk to People, According to Terry Gross, and another great article profiling her in more depth is, Terry Gross and the Art of Opening Up. The best way to learn about how Terry Gross conducts interviews, of course, is to listen to some of her interviews, so we'd recommend listening to some segments of Fresh Air and using what you've learned in this class as a lenses through which to analyze and reflect on her approach to interviewing. What is something she does well that you'd like to try incorporating into your own interviewing? What is something she makes sound easy that you're struggling with? Listening to skilled interviewers is an excellent way to improve your own abilities!

Have you heard an interview which has struck you as very skillful? Who in your local context is regarded as an excellent interviewer? You might think of journalists, radio hosts, podcast hosts, or TV personalities. It could be someone who interviews musicians, artists, or sports stars- anyone who is skillful at eliciting authentic, truthful, surprising and insightful stories and information from their interviewees.

If you have examples to share, tell us a bit about the interviewer and what makes them excellent from your point of view, and submit a link or two so we can learn more about their work!
