Module summary

This module focuses on practical issues and challenges related to implementation of data collection. The session includes a discussion around respondent selection, as well as pretesting data collection tools and protocols in the field. This will be followed by a discussion around quality control in the field including issues such as developing detailed standard protocols, training, supervision, spot checks and evaluations, regular equipment maintenance and standardization and biological specimen storage and transport. We’ll also discuss safety and hygiene including topics such as universal safety precautions, referral systems for ill respondents and emergency procedures. We’ll end with a comparison of electronic data collection methods with traditional methods and discuss some of the practical aspects of implementing electronic data collection methods in the field.
