Now that you’ve learned the basics of Civic Online Reasoning, you have a great opportunity to start sharing what you’ve learned with your colleagues and to introduce them to this material. Here are three ideas for great ways you can engage your colleagues around the COR curriculum.

1. Do COR lessons together in faculty meetings, department meetings, or grade-level team meetings.

Now that you’ve taught a few COR lessons with your students, you can use these same lessons to introduce your colleagues to COR resources. Many of the COR lessons are structured as puzzles: Who is really the source behind this information? What is this evidence really showing? What do other sources have to say? Solving these problems together as colleagues is fun. If your peers on the faculty have an inspiring, enjoyable experience learning about COR, they’ll be inspired to share those experiences with their students. Here are some activities from the COR curriculum that we’ve done together in this course:

2. Invite colleagues to do the practice spaces from this course and host debrief conversations.

While the COR lessons let your colleagues practice as COR students, the practice spaces from this course give your colleagues a taste of teaching the COR materials. All of the practice spaces are free to use by anyone, and we have a practice space sharing guide with ideas for how you can use these resources for professional learning. The practice space sharing guide is linked below. It includes a model meeting agenda, links to all the practice spaces, proposed discussion questions, debrief materials, and links to additional resources.

Access the Practice Space Sharing Guide Here

Where to Start: We recommend starting with Assessing Students' Baseline Skills for colleagues who have not had any exposure to Civic Online Reasoning. Supporting Lateral Reading and Misconceptions are great practice spaces to try once people have some exposure to Civic Online Reasoning concepts. Formative Assessment should be used only after participants have completed Assessing Students' Baseline Skills and have tried some of the COR tasks with students.

3. Invite colleagues to watch

For a quick introduction to the key ideas in the course, watch one of the videos from this course with your colleagues. Here are a few introductory videos:
